GSE/U of A Graduate Student Seminar: Don Proudfoot, Thurber Engineering Ltd. - Geotechnical considerations related to the design and performance of landfills: a study of industrial Class 1 and Class 2 Landfills in Alberta

Don Proudfoot, M.Eng., P.Eng., is a senior geotechnical engineer and principal at Thurber Engineering. After graduating from the civil engineering technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Don completed his bachelor's degree from Lakehead University and Master of Engineering degree from the University of Alberta. Don has spent his entire career at Thurber primarily working out of the Edmonton office with a four-year stint in the Toronto office. Don has worked on a variety of geotechnical projects ranging from geohazard assessment to roads and bridges, municipal developments, and industrial plants. Relevant to this presentation, he has worked on many landfill projects providing geotechnical consultation for landfill siting, design, slope stability assessments, repair, and construction.
